One of the most beautiful things about Colorado is being able to experience the change in seasons. Each season in the Rocky Mountains brings new joys and advantages. If you love ATV riding, you may be wondering, “Can I ride an ATV in the winter?” and the answer is a definite yes. The winter months are still great to go on an ATV riding adventure. They bring about new things to see and a different perspective than riding in the warmer months.
At Estes Park ATV Rentals we are your #1 ATV Rental Company in Colorado. Our rentals include a truck and trailer to haul your Razor. We also provide you with trail maps, helmets, and everything you need to have a safe and enjoyable ride. Our Kawasaki KRX 1000 ATV with 2 or 4 seats is an absolute blast in the snow. There are also a few Jeep trails open in the wintertime. Our Jeeps have a 4″ lift, 35″ aggressive tires, and a 10k winch for those tricky spots. Now that you know that winter is a great time to ride an ATV, let’s take a look at the best winter ATV trails in Colorado.

Top 4 favorite winter ATV trails:
- Switzerland Trail- This trail is open year-round and provides a full day’s worth of riding. This is one of our favorite places to go with Razors. We suggest it all the time for our Razor customers. The main Switzerland trail goes for many miles and is easy to drive. There are several trails that come off the main trail that ranges from moderate to extreme. This trail will take you by beautiful Gold Lake, the living ghost town of Sunset.
- Bunce School Road- This trail is open year-round and takes about 2 hours to complete depending on your pace. Bunce is a very popular trail. Most of the trails are easy. The Ironclad loop is a favorite, but it’s challenging. It’s a fun area where you’ll want to go back and hit some of your favorite spots. Take time as well to stop and check out some of the views. Moose love this area, especially in the winter and spring months.
- Parachute Hill- This trail is open year-round and takes about an hour to complete. Although really short, it’s a really fun trail worth ripping around on a couple of times. It’s connected to the Johnny Park trail which is closed in the winter. The plus of this trail is the awesome view at the top looking back at Longs Peak and the valley below.
- Rock Creek- This trail is open year-round and takes about two hours to complete. Although there aren’t any views because it is tightly wooded, the trails are pretty fun. You start at about 8000 feet and end up at nearly 11,000. Even though it’s open year-round, the snow can get really deep in late winter. We like the small river that runs along the edge of the trail. It comes straight off a glacier at the top.
